Lima, June 2022.- For its commitment to promoting the sustainable development of Peru and its good environmental, social and economic practices, for the eleventh consecutive year UNACEM was awarded the Socially Responsible Company Award 2021 (DESR), by Peru Sostenible and the Centro Mexicano de Filantropía (Cemefi), while it also received the Triple C Carbon Negative Commitment award from Celepsa.
For this 11th edition of the DESR, UNACEM improved its overall average by 5 points with respect to 2020, with a score of 81.89 points out of 100. It is worth noting that this score is 1.86% above the overall average of companies participating this year.
UNACEM was also awarded the Triple C certificate for the use of renewable energy in its operations during 2021. This award label highlights the inclusion of innovative technologies that companies use to decarbonize their energy system, in order to promote a more responsible, sustainable and interconnected city.
“These new achievements are evidence of the sustained effort that UNACEM has been making for years on the basis of environmental, social and corporate governance objectives, aligned with the United Nations SDGs. They also reaffirm our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and optimizing our energy efficiency”, said Eduardo Sanchez, general manager of UNACEM.
The two recent sustainability awards are in addition to others obtained last year, such as the Blue Certificate granted by the National Water Authority (ANA) and the Private Conservation Area (ACP) recognition from the Ministry of the Environment (Minam), which highlighted UNACEM’s commitment to the protection of natural areas and resources and their management.
