CAMP UNACEM: cement company brings together athletes to prepare for Santiago 2023

  • Kimberly García, Pilar Jáuregui, María Fernanda Reyes and Rodrigo Santillán are some of the athletes present at the camp.
  • The idea is to physically and mentally empower the athletes who will represent Peru in the upcoming Pan American and Parapan American games.

Lima, September 2023.- UNACEM, a company specializing in the production of cement and clinker in Peru, has created the first CAMP UNACEM, a fitness camp for athletes who will represent Peru and Ecuador in the next Pan American and Parapan American Games in Santiago 2023. From September 4 to 7, the ambassadors of “Team UNACEM” will meet in the camp that hopes to strengthen them physically and mentally, at the La Videna High Performance Center.

4 renowned Peruvian athletes: Kimberly García, two-time world champion in race walking; Pilar Jáuregui, world champion in badminton; Maria Fernanda Reyes, longboard world runner-up; and Rodrigo Santillan, Paralympic freestyle and backstroke swimmer, will be part of the experience.

3 athletes who are part of “Team UNACEM Ecuador” will also be present; the team was formed this year by UNACEM Ecuador to encourage sports in the country by nurturing essential talents to break down barriers and build a diverse, inclusive and sustainable world. Glenda Morejón, Olympic race-walking athlete; David Hurtado, Olympic race-walking athlete; and Kiara Rodríguez, Paralympic track and field athlete, are representing Ecuador this year.

At the camp they will have everything they need to improve their performance, as well as medical services and training talks on sponsorship and brand collaboration. Nutrition mentoring, personal branding, self-confidence and performance training, as well as coaching sessions, will also be carried out; in addition, they will be provided with cryotherapy, which will allow them to complement their physical preparation and recovery.

Gabriel Barrio, commercial manager of UNACEM, said that this first CAMP “contributes directly to the athletes who represent us in their categories and sports, so it is an honor to provide them with this space to prepare physically, mentally and psychologically and reach the best condition for future competitions”.

It should be noted that the creation of CAMP UNACEM is in addition to other initiatives that the company has been promoting for more than 15 years in support of high-performance athletes and to encourage the development of physical activity in adults, young people and children. This is the case of “Team UNACEM”, which was formed in 2019 and has been supporting athletes striving to achieve their goals and has become a reference for young people.
