Cemento Sol raises awareness of safe construction among more than 6 thousand children in Lima and Callao with its “ConoCIMIENTOS” program”

Lima, July 2022.- UNACEM’s flagship brand, Cemento Sol, launched a program to raise awareness of good construction practices among elementary school children aged 9 to 12, as part of its “ConoCIMIENTOS” campaign”. This first stage has benefited more than 6 thousand students from 15 schools in Lima and Callao.

Thus, and as a further step in the brand’s efforts to help reverse the problem of unsafe construction in Peru, 4th, 5th and 6th grade pupils took part in dynamic sessions supported by the story “Protegiendo los sueños de Sol” (Protecting Sol’s dreams), given to each of the participants and available online on the brand’s website.

The story, whose main character is a girl (Sol), is based on Cemento Sol’s “8 Steps to Safe Construction”, which teaches good construction practices. During the lessons, and with the support of exercises included at the end of the text, the pupils could test what they had learned under the guidance of an expert in safe construction and the Cemento Sol team.

The principals of the participating schools pointed out that “ConoCIMIENTOS” has allowed their students to complement consolidated learning in certain courses of their curriculum with valuable lessons on housing construction. “For example, in the science and technology course they can see the structure and types of soils”, commented the director of Ricardo Palma School, Socorro Altamirano Tovar.
