Municipalities of Pachacámac and Villa María del Triunfo begin remodeling of La Integración park

Lima, November 2022.- With an investment budget of more than 1 million soles, the remodeling has begun of Parque La Integración, also known as Plaza de Armas José Gálvez, between the districts of Pachacámac and Villa María del Triunfo. The project is being carried out by both municipalities as a result of the efforts of the Villa Poeta José Gálvez Residents Association and cement manufacturer UNACEM, and is expected to be completed in March 2023 for the benefit of the more than 8,000 local residents.

Under the banner “United for the development of José Gálvez”, the aim of modernizing La Integración Park was to increase green areas and improve family recreational spaces, among others. To this end, a bandstand and perimeter and internal paths will be built, benches will be installed, and the lighting improved, among other modifications coordinated with the neighbors. An amphitheater and children’s games will also be erected to promote greater entertainment and economic dynamism in this area.

To implement this important project, the partners involved decided to work together to improve the quality of life of the residents of both districts and to promote new programs and initiatives such as this, which will have a positive impact.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, the mayor of the district of Pachacámac, Guillermo Pómez Cano, commented that Lima South, consisting of Villa María del Triunfo, San Juan de Miraflores, Villa el Salvador, Pachacámac, Lurín and Cieneguilla, “in coordination with the population and with the help of private companies, has made it possible to start this important project the main aim of which is to benefit citizens”.

Similarly, Eloy Chávez Hernández, mayor of Villa María del Triunfo, emphasized that the work on Parque de la Integracion calls for neighborhood unity and integration between districts. He also added that the project has been achieved thanks to the joint efforts of three different bodies: “The community organized through its leaders, the local authorities through Lima Sur and the private sector”.

Eleonora León y León, executive director of Asociación UNACEM, the institution in charge of consolidating the work, highlighted the value of initiatives such as these, which “are opportunities to demonstrate that we can grow together to build a sustainable world, joining forces and making coordinated use of public space to promote outdoor family activities that contribute to healthier lives, as well as strengthening ties and solidarity between neighbors”.

She also highlighted the initiative of residents of José Gálvez, who, via their central committee, were the driving force behind this project, “it is important to highlight the contribution and commitment made by the community, when everyone joins in from their side, these initiatives become viable and greater sustainability is guaranteed, the social organization and its neighbors are committed to preserving and maintaining in good condition the park they have been waiting for such a long time”, said Ms León y León.

José Luis Padilla, president of the central committee of the José Gálvez Residents Association, who was one of the community leaders who participated in the prior coordination meetings, pointed out that “what we are promoting is the economic development of the area”

This work, as on previous occasions, highlights UNACEM’s commitment to working with municipalities and neighborhood associations for the integral well-being of the districts of southern Lima. In addition, projects of this magnitude highlight the continuous search for improvements to sustainable environments, social modernization and family recreation.
