Within the framework of the Cement Technical Regulations

UNACEM is the first company in the country to certify its cements according to the new scheme

  • UNACEM is the first cement producer to receive the certificate, even before the standard came into force.
  • The evaluation requires the producing and importing plants to comply with the quality requirements established by S.D. 001-2022-PRODUCE.

Lima, August 2023 – Intertek, a certifying company accredited by the National Quality Institute (INACAL), awarded UNACEM’s Atocongo plant its “Conformity Certification”, becoming the first cement plant in the country to receive this recognition. This certification, approved by Supreme Decree 001-2022-PRODUCE, requires Peruvian-manufactured and imported cement to meet technical and product labeling standards.

On this occasion, the verifying agency conducted an analysis and evaluation of the company to validate each of the products and presentations produced at Lima and Condorcocha plants, thus confirming that they meet the requirements for marketing stipulated by the Ministry of Production in the “Technical Regulation on Hydraulic Cement used in Buildings and Construction in General”- Chapter II, Annex I.

Since August 11, the company holds certificates of conformity for all the products it sells:

  • Cemento Sol Type I Portland
  • Cemento Andino Type V
  • Cemento Andino Forte, Type MH (R)
  • Cemento Andino Type I
  • Ultra Andean Cement
  • Apu Cement, Type GU

UNACEM’s Atocongo plant is the first in the country to obtain these certifications, followed by the Condorcocha plant. UNACEM’s General Manager, Eduardo Sanchez, commented that “successful certification is due to proper management by the entire team to ensure that our products are part of safe practices employed in our country’s buildings and infrastructure. We are very proud to be the first in the country to receive this certification for our operations, as well as our packaging and distribution practices”.
