Lima, March 2023.- UNACEM’s Amancay Sanctuary was the scene of the second Pacha Wild Trail, a trail running competition that turned into a solidarity race, on Saturday, March 18. The runners who participated in this initiative showed their commitment to the environment and society by running through part of the sanctuary and donating food and clothing, which UNACEM Association will give to neighboring communities affected by last week’s heavy rains and floods in southern Lima.
Participants could choose from four categories: 13 km, 21 km, 30 km and 45 km. The area was safe and coordination between civil defense and the organizers guaranteed the safety of participants and attendees.
The winners in the different categories were awarded trophies and medals for their efforts and solidarity. UNACEM’s commercial manager, Gabriel Barrio, expressed his gratitude to all those who took part in this race and made donations, for their support for the families affected by the floods. He also highlighted the importance of having an area such as Amancay Sanctuary that contributes to the conservation of coastal lomas ecosystem and generates sustainable development for local people and promotes sports and recreational activities.
UNACEM’s Amancay Sanctuary lies between the districts of Pachacámac and Lurín and is home to a great diversity of flora and fauna, including the Amancay flower, which is endemic to the lomas ecosystem.
