UNACEM’s Amancay Sanctuary to host the first day of Peru Trail Series
- The Peru Trail Series will consist of 4 events from November to April with 25,000 soles in cash prizes.
- The “UNACEM Amancay Sanctuary” stands out as the first private conservation area recognized by the Ministry of the Environment.
Lima, November 2023.- With a view to promoting outdoor sports in Summer 2024, the Amancay Sanctuary owned by UNACEM, a company specializing in the production and sale of cement and clinker, will be the venue for the first day of the Peru Trail Series this November 25, the country’s only trail running championship with cash prizes, which has become a milestone in Peruvian sport.
The event will bring together more than 800 participants, including the best Peruvian trail runners and fans of this sport, on four dates in Pachacamac, Calango, Lomas de Asia and Isla San Lorenzo, where contestants will compete in four distance races and enjoy a full day with family and friends: for children (2km), beginners (6km) and experts (10km and 21km).
Unlike trail running on asphalt, this series is run among rocks or on mud or grass. This connection with the environment fits well with UNACEM’s Amancay Sanctuary, which is a space for recreation and encounters with the environment.
Located between the districts of Pachacámac and Lurín, the sanctuary is the first private conservation area (ACP) in Metropolitan Lima that has been recognized by the Ministry of the Environment; it is at the heart of the Quebrada Río Seco hills where experiential events are held.
In addition, the UNACEM Association ensures that this 787.82 hectare area contributes to the conservation of the coastal hill mist oasis ecosystem and the amancay flower. It is also fundamental for the sustainable development of local populations.
